Defending champion National Bank continues its winning streak in the 3rd Chief of Naval Staff Hockey Tournament, WAPDA and Mari Petroleum also won matches, Punjab, Port Qasim and Air Force face defeat.
In the first match of the third day of the Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament held at Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium Karachi under the auspices of Naval Sports Directorate, under supervision of PHF, Mari Petroleum (MPCL) defeated Port Qasim Authority (PQA) by 1-7 after a one-sided contest. In the first match played on Thursday, Mari Petroleum dominated the game. Waqar Ali and Azanfar Ali scored two goals each for Mari Petroleum. Wasim Akram, Umair Sattar and Abdul Rehman also scored one goal each for the winning team. Kashif Jawad scored the only goal for Port Qasim in the 22nd minute of the match. Wasim Akram of Mari Petroleum was declared the best player of the match. Member National Hockey Selection Committee Olympian Ayaz Mahmood gave him Man of the Match award. Event Media Coordinator Muhammad Ali Khan was also present on the occasion.
In the second match, Pakistan WAPDA defeated Pakistan Air Force by three goals to two after an interesting contest. Aleem Bilal, Tauseeq Arshad and Ijaz Ahmed scored goals for Pakistan WAPDA. Rizwan Ali scored both goals for Pakistan Air Force on penalty corners. The match started an hour late due to heavy rain. Aleem Bilal was declared the best player of this match. The Man of the Match award was given by Member National Hockey Selection Committee Olympian Wasim Feroze.
In the third match, National Bank defeated Punjab by four goals. Forward Muhammad Dilbar from National Bank got the honor of making hat trick. Muhammad Dilbar scored in the 1st, 46th and 52nd minutes. Junaid Manzoor scored the fourth goal in the 48th minute for Defending champions National Bank. Muhammad Dilbar managed to get the award of the best player of the match. Two matches will be played on Friday, Pakistan WAPDA will face Port Qasim Authority at 10 am and Pakistan Navy will face Pakistan Army at 4 pm.
