Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visited hockey training camp at National Hockey Stadium Pitch-2 on Thursday evening.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi was warmly received upon reaching National Hockey Stadium Pitch-2 and then introduced with all camp probables and coaches who also had group photographs with him. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also witnessed the practice of the players with keen interest.
Legendary Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans briefed Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi regarding modern training being imparted at the camp organised under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab and in collaboration with Rana Zaheer Hockey Academy.
Chief Sports Consultant SBP Hafeez Bhatti, Director Youth Affairs Umair Hassan, Deputy Director Chand Parveen and Rana Zaheer were also present.
Talking on this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi urged the camp probables to learn modern hockey techniques from world’s best coaches. “We will continue to organise such training camps and provide all resources in future for the development and promotion of hockey in the country”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said Pakistan has ruled the hockey world for a long time. “We are proud of the Pakistan hockey team which had an unprecedented run of victories in all major hockey tournaments including Olympics, World Cup and Champions Trophy etc”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi stressed the participants to improve their performance by learning modern hockey skills and playing techniques from legendary coach Roelant Oltmans. “There is a lot of hockey talent in our country and Sports Board Punjab is utilising all resources to trace fresh talent. This kind of training camp will further improve the abilities of young talented players”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi paid rich tribute to Dutch coach Oltmans and praised his coaching techniques. Oltmans adopted a professional and peculiar way of coaching during the 2-week camp scheduled to conclude on June 28. Oltmans has divided all the participants into three groups as per their potential level and then imparted modern training to them accordingly.
Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans on this occasion said that all the players are showing a great amount of passion during training camp. “They are shining stars and can win gold medals for Pakistan in top international hockey events if they continue their hard work in line with the requirements of modern hockey.
